Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of Georgian Dream, claims that the organizers of the ongoing ‘Glory to Ukraine’ conference in Tbilisi are directly politically affiliated with those political groups of the radical opposition.
Kobakhidze told PalitraNews TV that the government “could not give even a little legitimacy” to the radical forces by participating in the mentioned conference.
He claimed that the majority of speakers in the conference are selected for political reasons. He said the invitation to participate in the discussion was addressed to the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili and the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Archil Talakvadze.
“It is precisely those people who have been selected as speakers who implement this radical agenda in Georgia or promote it from outside. Regarding the invitation, if I’m not mistaken, only two of our representatives were invited to participate in the discussion, they were the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili and the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Archil Talakvadze. Only two people were invited when there are many speakers. This also shows the basis for the formation of this list and agenda,” said Kobakhidze.
He claimed that specific politicians have a certain political interest. In this context, Kobakhidze mentioned the former US Ambassador to Georgia, Ian Kelly, and the Director of Global Policy of the George Bush Institute, David Kramer.
“We often use conditional terms, in this case the word “lobbyist” is largely conditional, and I would say more, in fact they are not the lobbyists of National Movement, but I think on the contrary, National Movement is their lobbyist. Here we are not dealing with misleading or anything, in fact there are certain political interests that are carried by specific politicians. These are MEPs, that is, for example, Ian Kelly, David Kramer, etc. Who is the lobbyist for whom, let the society judge that,” said Kobakhidze.
“When you link with the National Movement, it means that you are interested in disrupting the country, getting involved in war, etc,” he added.
