“What we really need is a quicker and shorter path towards integration of the EU and NATO because that is where we see our ultimate security, our ultimate security cannot be in a war, because we will never be able to win a war against Russia,” stated President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili in an interview with DW.
On Georgia’s application to join the European Union, she noted that the war in Ukraine had shown European leaders that the long term perspective they were offering before did not giving the three countries (Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova) a sense of belonging.
“After all these years, they deserve membership,” she said. “And from the European side, one of the ways to show support for those countries is to embrace them.”
