The Week of the Italian Language in Georgia

The Week of the Italian Language in Georgia concluded at the Tbilisi State University. Presented a special stamp by the Georgian Post Office, which shows Dante’s effigy by the famous Georgian painter Sergo Kobuladze, and a bilingual Italian-Georgian commemorative edition of Dante’s “Vita Nuova.”

The special stamp was issued with a circulation of 10,000 and its cost is 3.7 GEL.

Both initiatives were implemented in cooperation with the Italian Embassy and various Georgian institutions (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, Culture Committee of the Parliament of Georgia and Georgian Post) to mark the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death.

The presentation was followed by a scientific conference entitled “Dante’s Creations as a World Cultural Heritage,” which began with a video address by the Secretary General of the Dante Alighieri Society, Alessandro Maze. The conference gave Georgian and Italian scholars two days to explore and analyze many aspects of the great Italian poet’s invaluable legacy.
