A tournament dedicated to the jubilee of the legendary Georgian chess players Nona Gaprindashvili and Maia Chiburdanidze was held at the Tbilisi Chess Palace.
Members of the Georgian national team and invited foreign chess players took part in the Nona Gaprindashvili and Maia Chiburdanidze Cup.
Among the participants were: World and European Championship winner, multiple winners of the Chess Olympics Nana Dzagnidze, winners of the 2015 World Team Chess Championship, and multiple prize winners of the Chess Olympics – Bela Khotenashvili and Meri Arabidze, members of the national teams of France and Brazil.
The Maia Cup was held on September 8-11, and the Nona Cup on September 13-16. Both cups included a tournament for women and men.
