Five people have been detained on charges of robbery committed by a group acting by prior agreement and involving violence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The Vake-Saburtalo Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department established that the suspects physically assaulted a citizen in Tbilisi, stole his personal belongings, including an expensive mobile phone, and fled the scene.
“As a result of operational and investigative measures, law enforcement officers detained the perpetrators as suspects. Police seized some of the items obtained by the detainees as a result of the robbery as evidence,” the ministry said.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 178 of the Criminal Code, which carries a prison sentence of up to eight years.
