Only one candidate has applied in the competition for the position of Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster, with incumbent Tinatin Berdzenishvili seeking a second term.
Berdzenishvili, who currently serves as the broadcaster’s Director General, is the sole applicant for the post. Her six-year term is due to expire in September.
The gross monthly salary for the Director General position is GEL 16,250.
Lasha Tugushi, a member of the Public Broadcaster’s Board of Trustees, expressed disappointment over the lack of interest in the competition.
“I had hoped that others would also submit applications. Unfortunately, there is only one candidate, which does not reflect well on the situation. When such an important position, with such a high salary, attracts so little, virtually no, interest, it is a very bad sign,” Tugushi said.
