Ukraine and nine European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany and France, have agreed to develop a joint ballistic missile defense program aimed at strengthening Europe’s protection against missile threats.
“Our goal is to build a shared ballistic missile defense capability for Europe,” the 10 countries said in a joint statement issued on Monday as their leaders met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris.
The initiative will draw on Ukraine’s experience in defending against Russia’s full-scale invasion for more than four years, particularly its expertise in countering ballistic missile attacks.
The participating countries said the project is intended to enhance Europe’s collective air and missile defense capabilities by combining technological cooperation with Ukraine’s battlefield experience.
