Russian drone strike hits Odesa region as overnight attacks continue across Ukraine

Russian forces launched another large-scale drone attack on Ukraine’s Odesa region on July 14, damaging industrial facilities, while overnight missile and drone strikes also targeted Kyiv, Ukrainian authorities said.

Odesa Regional Military Administration says two industrial enterprises were damaged in the attack. A fire broke out in sunflower oil storage tanks at one of the facilities, but no casualties were reported. Officials did not disclose the names or exact locations of the affected businesses.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed the strike targeted infrastructure at the Port of Yuzhne, alleging the facilities were being used to store and transport fuel for the Ukrainian military.

The latest attack came a day after Russian strikes on Odesa’s port infrastructure. Ukrainian prosecutors said the July 13 attack damaged a foreign cargo vessel and killed five crew members.

Kyiv also came under attack overnight between July 13 and 14. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said Russian strikes hit warehouse buildings in the Holosiivskyi district, triggering several fires. He did not specify the nature of the facilities.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service later said all fires had been extinguished by around 9:00 a.m., adding that no casualties were reported in the capital.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said only that its forces had struck Ukrainian military-industrial facilities in Kyiv.

Ukrainian Air Force says Russia launched eight Iskander ballistic missiles, two guided air-launched missiles and 135 drones overnight.

As of 9:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had intercepted five Iskander missiles, both guided missiles and 108 drones. Authorities reported that one ballistic missile and 25 drones struck targets at 17 locations, while the fate of two additional ballistic missiles remained under verification.

Meanwhile, Ukraine launched drone attacks against several regions of Russia on July 14. Reported targets included oil refineries in Afipsky, Krasnodar Krai, and Salavat in Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defenses had intercepted 288 Ukrainian drones over 14 Russian regions, as well as over occupied Crimea and the waters of the Azov and Black seas. The ministry did not disclose how many drones, if any, reached their intended targets.
