The German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, has announced that his diplomatic mission in the country has come to an end.
Fischer shared the news in a farewell message posted in Georgian on X, formerly Twitter, thanking the people of Georgia.
“Our term of office in Georgia has ended. Thank you, be happy, and ‘Auf Wiedersehen’,” he wrote.
The ambassador accompanied the post with a photograph taken on Tbilisi’s Rustaveli Avenue at the April 9 Memorial. The post also featured the song “Won’t Stand Down” by English musician Peter Gabriel.
Fischer has served as Germany’s ambassador to Georgia since 2022 and has been one of the most outspoken European diplomats in the country, frequently commenting on developments related to democracy, human rights, and Georgia’s European integration.
