Georgia wishes Pashinyan success, highlights importance of regional peace and stability

Georgia has expressed support for Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following his election victory, emphasizing the importance of peace, stability, and regional cooperation in the South Caucasus.

“We wish Nikol Pashinyan every success. The Prime Minister of Georgia congratulated him on his election victory yesterday,” Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili told journalists.

Papuashvili said the evolving regional dynamics, ongoing efforts toward a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the importance of open borders, and continued dialogue between the neighboring countries are all critical factors for Georgia’s security and prosperity.

“Peace and stability in the region are of paramount importance to us, but Georgia alone cannot ensure them. Every country in the region must be committed to this shared objective,” Papuashvili said.

He stressed that Pashinyan’s commitment to securing peace and stability for Armenia would have positive implications for the entire region.

“Nikol Pashinyan’s pledge to ensure peace and stability for Armenia ultimately means peace and stability for the whole region. Such progress will benefit all countries and their peoples,” the Georgian Parliament Speaker added.

The remarks come as Armenia enters a new political cycle following parliamentary elections and as Yerevan and Baku continue efforts to finalize a long-awaited peace agreement after decades of conflict.
