A public event promoting repair, reuse, and waste reduction will take place at Orbeliani Garden in Tbilisi on June 14 as part of the EU initiative ‘Georgia Goes Green’ and the campaign ‘Choose Smart for a Green Future.’

Organized in partnership with the social enterprise ‘Ventilator,’ the Repair & Reuse Day event will run from 12:00 to 20:00 at 16 Anton Purtseladze Street.

The organizers say the event aims to promote the principles of the circular economy and encourage more sustainable consumption habits by demonstrating the value of repairing, sharing, reusing, and buying second-hand goods.

Visitors will have access to a Repair & Makers Zone, where specialists and craftspeople will offer guidance and support in restoring a wide range of items, including electronics, clothing, shoes, jewelry, bags, bicycles, furniture, household appliances, watches, eyewear, ceramics, and retro audio equipment.

The event will also feature a Green Entrepreneurs Market showcasing sustainable and socially responsible businesses, as well as a Recycling & Waste Collection Zone, where visitors can bring aluminum, paper, and cardboard for recycling.

A charity area will collect donations of books, clothing, shoes, toys, and pet supplies for local social and animal welfare initiatives.

Children will be able to participate in educational activities focused on repair culture, resource conservation, and waste reduction. The program will include a Toy Hospital, where damaged soft toys can be repaired, and appearances by ‘Chompo,’ a character designed to raise awareness about waste management.

Food stalls and live music will also be available throughout the day.

All visitors will receive a ‘Green Passport’ and will be able to collect stamps by participating in activities across the event. The stamps can later be exchanged for symbolic environmentally friendly gifts, organizers say.
