Relations between Armenia and Georgia are strategic, fraternal in nature, and do not depend on third parties, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a briefing.
Armenian media reported that Pashinyan made the remarks in response to a statement by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who recently said that “the European Union will not be able to influence Armenian-Georgian relations.”
Commenting on the issue, Pashinyan emphasized Georgia’s important role in Armenia’s relations with the European Union and expressed concern over the current situation.
“Georgia plays a very important and key role in Armenian-European relations, and we are very concerned about the current situation. We believe that this situation must be resolved,” Pashinyan stated.
At the same time, the Armenian prime minister underscored that relations between Armenia and Georgia are separate from either country’s ties with other states or international organizations.
He said Armenian-Georgian relations are based on longstanding strategic and fraternal ties and will continue in the same spirit in the future.
“There simply cannot be another scenario,” Pashinyan affirmed.
