China Southern Airlines is set to resume scheduled passenger operations on the Beijing–Tbilisi route, the Civil Aviation Agency says.
The airline will operate flights via Urumqi on the route Beijing–Urumqi–Tbilisi–Urumqi–Beijing. The service will run three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, starting June 8 and continuing until the end of the season.
As a result, from summer 2026, two airlines — Air China and China Southern Airlines — will operate flights between Beijing and Tbilisi.
China Southern previously operated on the same route from 2016 until the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in January 2020, the application submitted to the Civil Aviation Agency states.
The Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia has already granted the airline permission to operate the flights.
