Six people, including a child, were allegedly poisoned after eating confectionery in Marneuli municipality, the National Food Agency says.
The agency said it received a report about the suspected poisoning and launched an investigation.
It said its Kvemo Kartli department has already opened an inquiry and an unscheduled inspection will be carried out at the facility where the cake was reportedly purchased.
“Upon receiving the information, the agency’s Kvemo Kartli department launched an investigation,” the National Food Agency said.
The agency added it is coordinating with the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) and will release additional information once findings are confirmed.
