Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian drones had struck a Russian gas facility located more than 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, marking one of Kyiv’s longest-range attacks since the start of the war.
Zelensky claimed that the strike targeted infrastructure linked to Russia’s energy sector, which Ukraine has increasingly sought to disrupt as part of its broader strategy to weaken Moscow’s military and economic capabilities.
The Ukrainian president said the operation demonstrated Kyiv’s growing long-range strike capabilities and its ability to hit strategic targets deep inside Russian territory.
Russian authorities have not immediately provided detailed information regarding the reported attack or the extent of possible damage. Independent verification of the strike has also not yet been possible.
The reported attack comes as Ukraine continues to intensify drone operations against military, industrial and energy facilities inside Russia, while Moscow maintains large-scale missile and drone strikes across Ukrainian territory.
Kyiv argues such strikes are aimed at degrading Russia’s war infrastructure, while Moscow accuses Ukraine of targeting civilian and critical facilities.
