Major Russian online platforms have suspended some Armenian-made products, citing new customs procedures introduced in Russia in late April.

Sellers on Wildberries and Ozon reported disruptions on May 1. Wildberries says additional documentation is now required under updated customs clearance rules, while goods already stored in Russian warehouses remain on sale.

The company says it is in ongoing talks with partners and authorities and has met with more than 50 Armenian exporters to discuss solutions, expressing hope for a gradual resolution.

The move has sparked speculation about possible political motives amid growing tensions between Russia and Armenia, particularly over Yerevan’s deepening ties with the European Union.

Separately, Russian authorities suspended sales of mineral water produced by the Jermuk Group, citing sanitary concerns and removing more than 1.3 million bottles from the market pending inspection.

Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan rejects political motives behind the ban and says the issue will be resolved, though he suggests domestic opposition groups may have contributed to the online sales restrictions without providing evidence.
