Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, has been appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced at a briefing held at the Government Administration.
Presenting the decision, the Prime Minister thanked Tamazashvili for his work in Adjara, highlighting the reforms and development projects implemented under his leadership.
“The position of Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia will be held by Sulkhan Tamazashvili. I would like to thank him for his successful work as Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. Many important changes have been carried out in the region, and the groundwork has been laid for numerous new projects,” Kobakhidze said.
He emphasized that Tamazashvili is well-acquainted with the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, describing him as an experienced and senior representative within the structure. The Prime Minister expressed confidence in his ability to succeed in the new role.
Kobakhidze also noted that a candidate for the position of Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will be named in the coming days, following consultations with the President of Georgia and the Supreme Council of Adjara.
Tamazashvili’s appointment comes as part of ongoing changes within the government, with further announcements expected in the near future.
