The US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, visited the April 9 Memorial, brought the flowers and paid tribute to the memory of the people who died tragically on April 9, 1989.

“On April 9, 1989, 21 Georgians were killed, and hundreds of others injured during a peaceful demonstration at the hands of the Soviet Army. Today we honor their sacrifice in the name of a freer and more prosperous future,” Degnan said.
