Zurabishvili: Comments should not Come from Party, but from State Agencies, to Prove Truth and Lies with Facts

President Pardons 8 Convicts

The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, made a special statement regarding the return of Mikheil Saakashvili and noted that the society is not preparing for October 3, no party will follow such a destructive path.

Zurabishvili said that those who care about the future of the country should not talk about civil strife and added she is on the side of constitutional order and a peaceful future, calling on everyone to take responsibility.

“True or false, this issue in itself disrupts the pre-election environment, calms and strains the already tense, tired society, shows the precondition for even greater polarization. Those who replicate this topic and speculate on it, it turns out that they are not thinking about the country, fair elections, but are betting, as they say, on October 3, on destabilization,” the president said.

Zurabishvili noted in their speech they call on the citizens to come to the peaceful elections and by their actions they actually raise suspicion that other preparations are being made instead of the elections.

“Comments should not come from the party today, but from state agencies, which are obliged to prove the truth and lies to the public with facts and reassure them. Ridicule is not the answer when the effectiveness of state structures in the country is questioned,” said Salome Zurabishvili.
