Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron met in Brussels during the European Council summit, with Zelensky expressing his gratitude for France’s ‘clear and principled position’ in its support for Ukraine. He pointed out the necessity for ‘new, more substantial steps’ to protect European people, institutions, and way of life.
The leaders also touched upon the upcoming meeting, set to take place on March 11, between military representatives from countries committed to ending war and ensuring long-term security. “We aligned our positions and next steps,” Zelensky said, emphasizing a shared belief that “real and lasting peace is possible” through cooperation between Ukraine, Europe, and the United States.
“The war must end as soon as possible,” Zelensky stated.
