The National Wine Agency carried out quality control inspections at 86 wine companies in the second quarter of 2026.
The agency conducted 61 inspection controls at 24 companies to verify that alcoholic beverage samples submitted for certification matched production lots. Of the 177 samples tested, eight from three companies were found to be in violation.
Four state supervision inspections were carried out at one company to assess compliance with Georgian wine production regulations. No violations were found in any of the four samples tested.
As part of internal market controls, inspectors visited 23 facilities. Of the 34 samples taken from 16 companies, 14 samples from 10 companies were found to be in violation.
In the customs clearance economic zone, international auditing companies Bureau Veritas and SGS carried out inspections at 45 companies. Violations were identified in three of the 127 samples tested, involving three companies.
The agency also held 68 organoleptic (sensory) tastings of alcoholic beverages. A total of 3,301 samples were evaluated, with 3,180 receiving positive assessments and 121 failing the test.
The National Wine Agency says the number of violations declined compared to the same period last year.
