The US Embassy in Georgia has released a statement commemorating the 17th anniversary of the August 2008 war between Russia and Georgia.
“Today marks 17 years since Russia’s invasion of Georgia—a day to remember the victims of war, the displaced, and those who gave their lives in defense of their country,” the statement reads. “We see how deeply Georgians continue to honor the memory of their heroism.”
The Embassy emphasized the United States’ continued support for Georgia, stating: “We stand in solidarity with the Georgian people and reaffirm our unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
