Senior representatives of APM Terminals Poti hosted a delegation from the United States to discuss the port’s operations, strategic importance, and future development plans, based on a statement released by the Port of Poti.
The delegation included Peter Andreoli, a representative of the US State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, and Alan Purcell, the US Chargé d’Affaires to Georgia. They were received by APM Terminals Poti Managing Director Christian Roeder and Commercial Director Iain Rawlinson.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current operations of the Poti Seaport and discussed key strategic cargo routes, as well as ongoing and planned expansion projects aimed at increasing the port’s throughput capacity. These developments are expected to further strengthen Poti’s position as one of the key logistics hubs in the Black Sea region.
Particular attention was paid to the growing importance of the Middle Corridor — a trans-Caspian trade route connecting Asia and Europe — and Georgia’s expanding role in facilitating transit flows along this route. The discussions underscored the country’s strategic geographic position and its potential to enhance regional connectivity.
The sides also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable trade, highlighting the role of partnerships in supporting the long-term development of transport and logistics infrastructure in the region.
