James O’Brien, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, states that the US condemns and does not recognize the so-called elections held in the Tskhinvali region occupied by Russia.
“The US condemns and does not recognize the fake parliamentary elections in South Ossetia occupied by Russia, which are being held without Georgia’s consent.
We fully support Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders,” James O’Brien wrote on X.
On June 9, the occupied Tskhinvali region held de-facto elections. The Georgian Foreign Ministry has condemned the de-facto election, noting that it “grossly violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders”.
Georgia’s international partners have condemned the so-called elections held in Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region.
