Georgia’s Finance Ministry’s Investigation Service has exposed two businesses accused of defrauding the state budget.
The ministry coordinated with the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti District Prosecutor’s Office, operational-search and investigative measures revealed that the defendants signed state procurement contracts in 2025 on behalf of their companies.
The investigation found that instead of supplying the contracted dairy products for kindergartens, the companies delivered low-quality, cheap substitutes. This scheme allegedly allowed them to fraudulently get around GEL 20,000.
A criminal case has been launched under Article 180, Part 3 of Georgia’s Criminal Code which carries a penalty of six to nine years in prison.
