Three Committees – Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, and the Rules and Procedural Issues Committee – jointly deliberated the Draft Anti-Oligarch Law prepared by the UNM.
One of the initiators of the document, Levan Bezhashvili, noted that the draft law aims to eliminate risks that are incompatible with the democratic state recognized by the Constitution.
“According to the Draft Law, the concept of an oligarch includes a person who has economic and political power, and through the use of this power violates the principle of the rule of law, influences the political processes in the country, which leads to the disruption of the principle of separation of powers and balance,” Bezhashvili remarked.
The Committees did not support the legislative package during the voting.
