The Parliament conducted the second round of voting to elect two new members of the Supreme Council of Justice. None of the four candidates who advanced to the second round received sufficient support.
The candidates who secured the highest number of votes in the first round and proceeded to the second round were Rusudan Kvinikadze, Goga Kikilashvili, Levan Nemsadze, and Nino Nishnianidze.
In response to the outcome, Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of the majority, stated that further consultations will take place between members of both the opposition and the majority regarding the presented candidates. Subsequently, a new round of voting for the vacant positions will be conducted on May 30.
A total of 29 candidates were initially nominated as members of the Supreme Council of Justice of Georgia. In the first round, the Parliament elected three non-judge members: Tristan Benashvili with 93 votes, Giorgi Gzobava with 91 votes, and Zurab Guraspashvili with 93 votes.
