The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) has released a report on the state procurement market’s services in the construction sector. The examination first began when a complaint by the ‘Engineering Monitoring Group’ was submitted, addressing flaws in infrastructure tenders and how bidding methods discouraged competition, particularly in Gori, Marneuli, Khashuri, and other municipalities.
The GCCA concluded the investigation in 2023 and ordered municipal procurement bodies to adhere to fair competition principles, ensuring participation only from companies without ongoing legal battles over accreditation.
The GCCA reports that their efforts are now seeing positive changes, with the elimination of obstacles and improved competition in the sector.
