Tbilisi Mayor Urges Citizens to Refrain from Driving without Winter Tires

“Snow ploughs have been working all night, and now the team continues to work laying rock salt on the roads and carrying out cleaning works.” – Mayor Kakha Kaladze

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze appealed to the owners of private vehicles to refrain from driving in the city unless they use winter tires, because it causes traffic jams, which creates problems for the society.

As Kaladze stated at today’s meeting of the Tbilisi government, rock salt is being poured on the roads and cleaning works are underway.

“It is snowing in the capital. Accordingly, snow ploughs of Tbilservice Group have been working all night, and now the team continues to work laying rock salt on the roads and carrying out cleaning works. This process will continue until the problem is resolved. It should also be emphasized that we have specific locations where traffic jams formed due.

“I would like to once again ask all people who drive a private car, if you have not fitted winter tires, avoid driving in the city as it poses risks for all. We must take care of each other, each other’s health and safety. Cleaning works will continue throughout the day,” Kaladze said.

Snowy weather in the capital today resulted in heavy traffic jams across the city and in the suburbs.

Reportedly, cloudy, windy and cold weather will continue across Georgia until February 26.
