The Tbilisi City Court has sentenced Davit Khomeriki to four years and six months in prison after finding him guilty of preparing an explosion during last year’s protests. The verdict was delivered by Judge Nino Galustashvili.
Khomeriki, who maintains his innocence, called the allegations against him ‘absurd’ during his final statement before sentencing.
The case first opened on December 2, 2024, when Khomeriki and his brother were detained by law enforcement for blocking a road during demonstrations. Initially held under administrative procedures, Khomeriki was later charged, with prosecutors claiming he had been in possession of incendiary devices at the time of his arrest.
He was prosecuted under Article 18-229 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which covers the preparation of a crime and carries a sentence of four to seven years in prison.
