Sulakauri Publishing has announced via social media that the Polish translation of Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry, a highly praised novel by Georgian author Tamta Melashvili, has been awarded the prestigious Best Book of the Year title in Poland. The novel, translated into Polish by Magdalena Nowakowska and published by Wydawnictwo Filtry, was celebrated for its powerful narrative and emotional depth.

The novel follows Etero, a middle-aged woman living in rural Georgia, who experiences a personal transformation after a near-death episode, leading her to defy society’s norms and embrace a newfound freedom.

The story, told through an introspective stream-of-consciousness narrative, was later adapted into a film by Elene Naveriani, which premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival to international acclaim.
