The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, had a meeting with the President of the French Senate, Gerard Larcher.
During the meeting, Papuashvili discussed the progress made in implementing the 12 recommendations of the European Commission and expressed optimism that Georgia will be granted the status of a candidate country by the European Council at the end of the year.
President Larcher reaffirmed France’s support for Georgia’s European integration aspirations. He emphasized Georgia’s significance in ensuring global security and stability in the region and acknowledged its aspiration to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
Papuashvili also provided an overview of the current economic and political situation in Georgia. Both parties expressed their commitment to further deepening the existing strong partnership and fostering historical and cultural cooperation between Georgia and France.
