No one is surprised by Georgia’s desire to regain Abkhazia and South Ossetia, but Abkhazia’s task is to develop and strengthen its statehood – this is how Abkhazia’s so-called security council secretary Sergey Shamba responded to the statement of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.
“They have wanted to get us back for 30 years, they will want it for another 300 years, who is surprised by this? This is their foreign policy task and nothing new for us. Abkhazia has its own tasks, that is to build an independent state, develop and strengthen its statehood,” said Shamba.
He claimed that there are many unresolved problems between Abkhazia and Georgia.
“When the time comes, we will discuss it, although we do not see such a readiness, but we are not going to discuss issues of confederation or any other relationship with this state,” said Shamba.
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, in his speech at the ceremony dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia, said that it is the Georgian dream that “on the 40th anniversary of the restoration of Georgia’s independence – in 2030, we will live in a united and strong Georgia with our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers and sisters. The united and strong Georgia should become a full-fledged member of the European family in 2030”.
