“There’s no Ukraine without Georgia. As an American, I realized that Ukraine also gave me Georgia,” said American actor Sean Penn.
Sean Penn arrived in Tbilisi to attend the ZEG Storytelling Festival and made the above statement during his speech at the festival.
“We never know when we are being lied to, but we always know when we are being told the truth. I can tell Georgians the truth. It’s sad, but it’s true. I know more about Georgia in the last 24 hours than I have known in the 62 years that preceded it, and I fell in love with Georgia. There’s no Ukraine without Georgia. As an American, I realized that Ukraine also gave me Georgia. Ukraine is what our country promised us – peace and freedom,” said Sean Penn.
Sean Penn stands out for his support for Ukraine. He came to Ukraine to shoot a documentary right after the Russian invasion. Due to the support of Ukraine, along with the names of world leaders, a plaque named after Sean Penn was opened on the “Alley of Courage” in Kyiv. During one of his visits to Kyiv, Sean Penn took the “Oscar” statue given to him and gave it to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the office of the President of Ukraine, “Oscar” will stay in Ukraine until the end of the war.
