Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, has stated that “dictatorships must end,” expressing support for the Iranian people amid the escalating conflict in the region.
In a post published on X, Zurabishvili said she does not welcome the outbreak of war but sharply criticized Iran’s authorities.
“I am never pleased to see the start of a war, but Iran’s government lied, mocked negotiations, and, most importantly, killed and tortured its own people. Dictatorships must end! Support to the Iranian people!” Zurabishvili wrote.
Her statement comes against the backdrop of rapidly rising tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, following reported military operations and retaliatory threats in the region.
Zurabishvili’s remarks add to international reactions as political leaders continue to weigh in on the unfolding developments and their broader implications for regional stability.
