Everyone agrees that the door of the “3+3” format is open for Georgia. We understand why the Georgian government refrains from joining the “six”, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in Tehran.
“We appreciate the fact that Tbilisi reserves the chance to make this decision in the future. In any case, all the actions of the current government of Georgia are based on fundamental national interests, which has been proven many times. This gives an opportunity to believe that in the near future the “3+3″ format will be fully formed,” said Lavrov.
For information, the Georgian delegation did not attend the “3+3” format meeting held in Tehran yesterday.
On October 23, Monday, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Russia and Turkey held a meeting in “3+3 format” in Tehran, Iran. Georgia will not participate in the “3+3” meeting in Tehran, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2020, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced the initiative to create a “new platform for regional cooperation to ensure strong peace and stability” – “3+3” in the South Caucasus. The meeting in the mentioned format was held for the first time in 2021, and Georgia did not attend then either.
