The Roads Department has issued an update on current road conditions across Georgia, as heavy snowfall and difficult weather continue to affect traffic on several major highways.
Department says following ongoing maintenance works, light vehicle traffic has been restored on the Gudauri –Kobi section of the Mtskheta–Stepantsminda–Larsi highway. However, traffic in other directions remains disrupted due to adverse meteorological conditions, prompting the introduction of special traffic regimes on a number of road sections.
The Roads Department reported that, due to loose ice, heavy snow, and unfavorable weather conditions, the movement of trailers and semi-trailers is restricted on the following routes and sections:
Gudauri–Kobi section of the Mtskheta–Stepantsminda–Larsi highway
Akhalsopeli transport hub–Boriti transport hub section of the Tbilisi–Senaki–Leselidze highway
Gomi–Sachkhere–Chiatura–Zestafoni highway (km 1–km 106)
Koda–Algeti village and km 110–km 146 sections of the Koda–Partskhisi–Manglisi–Tsalka–Ninotsminda highway
Nakerala Pass
Sachkhere–Racha road
Partskhisi–Tetritskaro highway
Marneuli–Tetritskaro–Tsalka highway
Ofitara–Mele section of the Kutaisi–Tskaltubo–Tsageri–Lasdili highway
Korenishi–Shovi section of the Kutaisi–Alpana–Mamisoni road
Jvari–Ushguli section of the Zugdidi–Jvari–Mestia–Lasdili highway
In addition, all types of vehicle traffic are temporarily prohibited on several sections due to avalanche danger, heavy snowfall, poor visibility, and blizzard conditions. These include:
Paravni Pass
Paksadzes Bridge–Utkisubani section of the Batumi (Angisa)–Akhaltsikhe highway
Nichbisi–Didgori–Didi Toneti highway
Korsha–Shatili section
Ushguli–Lasdili section
The Roads Department also noted that only off-road vehicles are permitted on the Batumi–Akhaltsikhe highway between km 50 and km 85.
Agency says traffic remains free on all other road sections. Drivers are urged to follow official updates and exercise caution while traveling under winter conditions.
