Public Servants establish an independent trade union.
The founders of the organization submitted a registration application to the House of Justice today.
They announce that the organization will immediately address “the repressive act aimed at legalizing political purges in public service.”
The organization, named Independent Trade Union of Public Servants – Article 78 of the Constitution, currently represents individuals employed in the public sector who have publicly declared their commitment to the will of the Georgian people and the national interests of the state as outlined in Article 78 of the Georgian Constitution. This commitment includes the protection of the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
The Independent Trade Union of Public Servants aims to: – Protect the labor, socio-economic, civil-political rights, and legal interests of public servants; – Improve the working conditions, wages, and social security of public servants and promote these improvements; – Provide legal assistance, qualified consultations, and advocacy for public servants; – Support the professional development of public servants by enhancing their work standards, acquiring new knowledge/skills, and offering training through theoretical and practical activities; – Strengthen the role of public servants in society and increase public trust and engagement in public governance; – Support institutional reforms based on the principles of good governance within the framework of European integration; – Facilitate the development of stable, effective, and transparent public administration in line with Georgia’s long-term state interests, adhering to the Georgian Constitution, democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and high professional and ethical standards.
The organization has announced that it will prioritize addressing the repressive act aimed at legalizing political purges in public service. The trade union is ready to employ all legal measures to protect the rights of public servants, as stated in the released information.
