At the back entrance of the parliament, the participants of the protest are once again gathering to protest the law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence”, which was vetoed this weekend by President Salome Zurabishvili.
The citizens claim that if the ruling party overrides the veto, it will be a step backwards for the country’s future and a rejection of the chance to join NATO and the European Union. Georgia’s western partners have said the same in multiple warnings.
Shouts of “No Russian law” can be heard.
The parliamentary session, where the motivated remarks of the President on the “Transparency of Foreign Influence” law are being discussed by both opposition and GD representatives, started at 12pm. It is widely expected that Georgian Dream with overthrow the president’s veto. The second part of the citizens are expected to gather in front of the Parliament from 17:00.
Police are mobilized at all entrances of Parliament.
