Archil Museliantsi, who was detained during protest rallies and accused of deliberately damaging and setting fire to the power source of cameras installed in front of the Parliament building, has been found guilty and sentenced to four years in prison.
The verdict was delivered by Judge Giorgi Arevadze. He explained that while the relevant article of the Criminal Code prescribes three to six years of imprisonment, Museliantsi’s prior criminal record resulted in an additional year above the minimum term, bringing the sentence to four years.
Museliantsi was charged under Article 187, Part 2 of the Criminal Code, which addresses the destruction or damage of another’s property and carries a penalty of three to six years of imprisonment.
Based on the case materials, Museliantsi deliberately damaged the cameras’ power source and set it on fire in an attempt to prevent the identification of protesters present at the rally.
