No one needed this law, it does not come from anywhere, if not at the behest of Moscow. This law should be revoked, it should not be sent to the Venice Commission, said the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, in her address from the US.
As Zurabishvili explains, the population gathered on Rustaveli Avenue represents free Georgia.
“I am addressing you who are standing on Rustaveli this evening, as I have stood many times. I’m standing here in New York and behind me is the Statue of Liberty. This is the symbol for which Georgia has always fought, for which we have come to this day. I am by your side. Today you represent free Georgia. Georgia, which sees its future in Europe, will not allow anyone to take away this future. This future belongs to our next generation. This is the future, the one that the previous generations were preparing and we were also preparing. No one has the right to take your future away from you. No one has the right to set a trap. No one needed this law, it does not come from anywhere, if not at the behest of Moscow. This law should be revoked. In whatever form you want, it is not to be sent to the Venice Commission. The Venice Commission knows very well what type of law it is. From the very first day, I said that I would use veto and I will veto it,” the President said.
