Petras Austrevicius: Regime in Georgia continues its attempts to silence and intimidate opposition

Regime in Georgia continues its attempts to silence and intimidate opposition, – MEP Petras Austrevicius writes on his X page.

“Tbilisi City Court fined Miranda Bagaturia, spokesperson for the opposition party Akhali, and Ana Kurashvili, spokesperson for Girchi – More Freedom for allegedly insulting a police officer. Regime in Georgia continues its attempts to silence and intimidate opposition”, he wrote.

Tbilisi City Court fined representatives of the press service of Girchi – More Freedom and Akhali, Ana Kurashvili and Miranda Baghaturia, 4,000 GEL each. They were charged with insulting police officer Mirian Kavtaradze under Part 2 of Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. The Ministry of Internal Affairs requested pre-trial detention for both of them.
