The Georgian Foreign Minister was not invited to the informal meeting of EU candidate countries’ foreign ministers in Warsaw due to actions taken by the Georgian authorities over the past year, EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski told journalists.
Herczynski described the situation as “extremely regrettable” but emphasized that the exclusion reflects the current state of EU-Georgia relations.
“I am sorry, but unfortunately, this is the reality,” he said. “More and more important events, including those related to EU enlargement, are taking place without Georgia’s participation. This is due to the steps taken by the Georgian authorities over the past year.”
For context, an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers took place in Warsaw, bringing together representatives from candidate countries—except for Georgia, which, reportedly, was not invited.
