The Parliament has elected members to the High Council of Justice – Tristan Benashvili with 93 votes, Giorgi Gzobava with 91 votes, and Zurab Guraspashvili with 93 votes. The respective draft resolutions and the biographic data of the candidates were introduced by the Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Anri Okhanashvili.
“The competition has been called for the election of 5 members to the High Council of Justice and the candidates were nominated. The Legal Issues Committee heard the candidates and the Majority and Opposition MPs had an opportunity to ask questions and hear the answers of certain candidates,” he stated.
29 candidates were submitted for voting to the plenary sessions and 3 candidates have been selected.
The second round will reveal the candidates for the remaining 2 vacant positions. As a result of voting, Rusudan Kvinikadze received 89 votes, Goga Kikilashvili – 89 votes, Levan Nemsadze – 88 votes and Nino Nishnianidze – 87 votes; two more members to the High Council of Justice will be selected from amongst the candidates.
