At the opening ceremony of the Climate Law development process, the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili stated, “I believe Parliament and society shall resume the real policy which is important for our people. Such subject projects and consideration of such laws allow us to offer more to our society, more interesting and intensive discussion. The greatest part of the political agenda is covered by the political discussions and the part of the policy which is real and crucial for the people is sometimes left under the shadow, unfortunately; and thus, it is an honor to participate in such events.”
The opening ceremony of the Climate Law development process was organized by the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee and WFD jointly.
The Speaker underlined the importance of such events, noting that the political agenda takes the greater part of the discussion and the real policy oriented to human needs is often left behind.
“We are a country still under transformation and in the process of economic development, and every issue is being put in terms of regulation, identifying the stages for regulation and the directions of the sustainable development in economic, social, etc. In this regard, our Environmental Committee manifests this very special expertise, which is a particular treasure in our Parliament. As to the law-making activity, I believe, we have interesting discussions ahead. It is the topic of the supra-party nature, which will allow us to seek the issues to reconcile our positions and deriving from our common future, make a joint decision.”
He thanked WFD for organizing the event and for contributing to the development of the Parliamentary democracy.
