Papuashvili: EU should Demonstrate its Long-Term Interest Towards Region by Granting Candidate Status to Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine

Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili wrote on Twitter that the European Union should demonstrate its long-term interest towards the region by granting candidate status to Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

“It is indeed a moment of truth for the EU, and credibility & legitimacy of its international actorness. Being at this strategic juncture, the Union should demonstrate its long-term interest towards the region by granting a candidate status to Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine ,” Tweeted Papuashvili.

It is indeed a moment of truth for the #EU, and credibility & legitimacy of its international actorness. Being at this strategic juncture, the Union should demonstrate its long-term interest towards the region by granting a candidate status to #Georgia, #Moldova and #Ukraine. https://t.co/Ihhu0G3dyS

Chairman of the Parliament responded to Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, David Mcallister who Tweeted: “the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs will discuss its assessment on the application of Moldova, Ukraine, and Georgia to join the EU with the European Commission.

@EP_ForeignAff will discuss its assessment on the application of #Moldova, #Ukraine, and #Georgia to join the EU with @EU_Commission. @EPPGroup believes that at a time when the security of the whole region is at stake, granting candidate status is an important political signal.
