the Center for the Organization of Traffic reports that more than 2,650 vehicles are currently waiting in the electronic queue at the Upper Larsi (Zemo Larsi) border crossing between Russia and Georgia.
The backlog has persisted despite the fact that traffic on both the Georgian Military Highway and the Transcaucasian Highway remains open without restrictions for all types of transport.
Just days earlier, on September 22, North Ossetian Deputy Head of Government Giorgi Atarov reported an even higher figure, saying that approximately 3,000 trucks were lined up at the border, Russian media reported. He added at the time that “there are 2,960 units of motor transport in the electronic queue.”
