Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, stated that the ruling Georgian Dream party was forced to invite the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission, calling it an achievement of her political team.
Khvedeliani claimed that her party will actively participate in the process to ensure that the mission is fully integrated into the October 4 local elections, despite the limited timeframe.
“Their participation is crucial for transparency. Georgian Dream had no other choice but to invite them, given the active involvement of our team and the opposition in these elections. However, they deliberately extended the invitation too late,” Khvedeliani said.
She stressed that OSCE/ODIHR reports have always been “sharp and highly relevant” to Georgia’s political reality, adding: “If OSCE/ODIHR participates, their conclusions will carry great weight, especially in the face of an authoritarian regime.”
The Georgian government has officially sent an invitation letter to the OSCE/ODIHR to deploy an observation mission for the upcoming elections.
