Nika Melia Confirms He Met with President Salome Zurabishvili

The chairman of the National Movement, Nika Melia, did not deny that he met the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili during the last month.

“No, I don’t deny it,” said Melia.

He noted that he had the opportunity to meet with Salome Zurabishvili more than once in the last year, although he did not discuss the details of the meetings.

“It is very important for me to say what can always be said, but there are issues when I cannot be completely open,” said Melia.

He noted that it seems that President Zurabishvili acknowledges the harsh reality of today.

“I am glad that it seems that Salome Zurabishvili very seriously acknowledges the harsh reality being created. I cannot talk about what decision she will make. To put it mildly, we had our problems with her, but all this is of no importance now, I mean the voters of National Movement, I, as the chairman of the party.

“We, all of us, should agree together about the development of the country. Not only on the vector of foreign political development of the country, but in general, how we want to be – do we want to kill the president again, which will automatically be followed by the iron curtain, and we end up together with Lukashenko’s Belarus and Putin’s Russia? Or do we want to be a part of the civilized world? This is at stake today,” said Melia.

“The main question will be answered when it is answered,” is how Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili answered a journalist’s question on whether she will pardon former President Mikheil Saakashvili.

The mentioned statement was made by the President at a briefing held in the Orbeliani Palace.
