New decorative lighting has been installed along both the right and left embankments of the Mtkvari River in Tbilisi, significantly enhancing the appearance of the capital’s historic district.
The announcement was made by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze during a municipal government meeting. The mayor stated that the rehabilitation project was important both technically and visually, particularly in restoring and modernising the city’s historic urban landscape.
As part of the works, decorative lighting systems were fully rehabilitated and upgraded. A total of 760 modern lamps and lanterns were installed on 48 existing and newly added poles. The new lighting fixtures meet contemporary standards and offer improved illumination performance.
Previously, the embankment railings and lighting infrastructure were reportedly in poor condition and visually inconsistent with the city’s architectural character. The completed rehabilitation provides a renewed aesthetic to both riverbanks while improving functionality and safety.
Mayor Kaladze emphasised that restoring and upgrading the historic areas of the capital remains a priority for the municipality. He also expressed gratitude to Tbilservice Group for carrying out the project.
